One of the things that really helped me not gain too much weight during my pregnancy with Keira was eating a bowl of oatmeal pretty much every single morning. I’m not the type of person that gets tired of eating the same thing everyday especially if it’s something that works. It also helped that I had a goal in mind and in order to achieve my goal I had to be strict on my diet. Keira is now seven months and I still eat a bowl pretty much every morning.
You will want to start out with about 1 and 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup of old fashioned rolled oats. Not the instant or steel cut oats but good old-fashioned oats. Go ahead and turn your stove on the lowest heat setting and let it cook.
It’ll eventually start to boil. I just let it do it’s magic and come back and check on it.
Once in a while I will stir it but I usually just let it simmer.
The oats will get all creamy and soft and then before you know it…it’s all done!
Pour it into a bowl and add your toppings and just like that you will get to have a nice hot bowl of the creamiest oatmeal.
This is the most delicious yet basic oatmeal recipe you will ever make! It is very creamy that you will not need to add any milk (unless you want to) so save yourself the calories. Feel free to top it with whatever toppings you would like. I usually have mine with about 1/3 of a banana and some walnuts. Don’t go too crazy with the toppings because then what’s the point of having a healthy breakfast? Some other toppings you can add could be brown sugar, apples, blueberries, or strawberries. I hope you enjoy this simple oatmeal recipe as much as I do!
